TOUR CONDITIONS (please note): Attendees must wear sturdy, comfortable, CLOSED-TOED shoes that complete covers the foot – NO SANDALS of any kind. Wear cotton clothing. Avoid polyester, nylon or other synthetic fabrics which can develop a charge that attracts radon particles. Jeans are acceptable. Tour attendees are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be supplied prior to conducting the tour. PPE includes hard hats, eye protection and hearing protection.
Attendees must provide to MUI their Full Legal Name as it is recorded on their Driver’s License. It will be given to Xcel Energy for security clearance.
MUI Tour Attendees must have a Government Issued picture ID with them the day of the event to take the tour and to prove their identity (drivers’ license, passport, etc.).
MUI Nuclear Plant Tour Informational Sheet Clothing Attendees must wear sturdy, comfortable, shoes that entirely envelop the foot. Open-toe shoes, sandals, etc. in the industrial environment are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Wear cotton clothing. Tour attendees are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be supplied prior to conducting the tour. Prohibited Items Prohibited items such as firearms, explosives, and incendiary devices SHALL NOT be brought through the Intermediate Barrier Vehicle checkpoint, or into the Protected Area.
Firearms – Includes the major components of a firearm, including the barrel, cylinder, slide, and/or magazine.
Ammunition
Explosive Devices
Incendiary Devices – Including personal use gas cans.
Illegal or Unauthorized Controlled Substances – Including but not limited to narcotics, depressants, amphetamines, hallucinogens, and marijuana. Unauthorized means without proper prescription specifically for a given individual.
Alcohol
Weapons – including, knives with a blade of greater than four inches.
Cameras/Video Recorders – Visitors that have not been granted unescorted access require photographic equipment used at the site to be approved via the fleet Camera Control Procedure. (Note: Cell phones, PDAs and any personal electronic devices with photographic capabilities are defined as cameras, and shall be controlled as such.)
PLEASE NOTE: Attendees must indicate if you’ve had medical tests involving radioactive isotopes within the past three weeks prior to the tour. For example, nuclear stress tests or anything that requires introduction of a radioactive dye or tracer. Radiation monitors detect even small amounts of radioactive isotopes in the body, so special arrangements can be made for you to be able to enter the station. X-rays do not count because no radiation products are deposited in the body. Attendees must indicate in advance if you have large metal implants (such as hip joints). IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR TOUR ADMITTANCE:
MUI Tour attendees must provide their full name as it is listed on your Driver’s License.
Attendees MUST HAVE a Government Issued picture ID with them the day of the tour (Driver’s License, Passport, etc.).
Attendees must know their Social Security numberfor security reasons.
